Phra Achana means “Buddha Who is Unafraid”. This image is also called Phra Poot Dai or “Buddha That Speaks“.

Phra Achana is almost 15 metres tall and, because it’s located inside an open air tower (mondop), the viewer is forced to stand immediately in front of the image and look almost directly up to the sky to view the face. Imposing and serene all at once, it is a powerful image of the Buddha.
